12/08/08 - CALLING ALL BUDDING ARTISTS … HELP ASDA AND McCOWAN’S PACKAGE UP COMMEMORATIVE HIGHLAND TOFFEE BAR

To mark the forthcoming opening of the new store in Stenhousemuir ASDA has joined forces with one of the region’s most renowned and much-loved local suppliers, McCowan’s, to create and package a one-off commemorative product for the store opening.

The 45g Highland Toffee bar will be given a new look for one day only to mark the store’s move to the town and McCowan’s new relationship with the supermarket chain. This will be the first time that the bar has been given a new look since it was first created 81 years ago.

How you can get involved:

ASDA and McCowan’s are calling for budding local artists of any age to help create the packaging design. The winning design will then be professionally re-produced as the packaging for this product which will be distributed to customers for free on opening day.

“McCowan’s are a big part of Stenhousemuir’s heritage and we are really excited about working with them on this one-off product.”

“We are calling for any budding local artists to help us come up with the packaging design … so if you think you have what it takes then we want to hear from you.”

Stuart Johnston, Chief Executive at McCowan’s says: “This is a very exciting time for us at McCowan’s. We are delighted to be working with ASDA on this new project.”

The lucky design winner will be invited along with their family and friends to the McCowan’s factory to see the finished product being created. They will also be invited as VIPs to the new ASDA store opening on Monday 29th September.

· Closing date for entries is 12noon on Friday 22nd August

The winning design will be selected by a special judging panel made up of Danny McCabe (ASDA Stenhousemuir General Store Manager), Stuart Johnston (Chief Executive, The New McCowan’s) and Colin Hume (Editor, Falkirk Herald).

Entrants must be willing to be interviewed/photographed by the media. Entrants must also be available to attend the store opening on Monday 29th September.
